My work investigates the possibilities of material through metal, glass, and mixed media. I am particularly interested in the interaction between metal and glass and the point at which the materials begin to influence the outcome.
Metal and glass offer opposing qualities—rigidity and fluidity, strength and fragility, permanence and transformation. I am drawn to the moment when these qualities collide, relinquishing a degree of control to heat, gravity, and the natural behavior of the materials.
This process allows unexpected forms, surfaces, and relationships to emerge. The resulting work reflects an ongoing tension between intention and material response, control and chance. It is this unpredictable exchange that continues to drive my practice and my exploration of what I call a “fluid occurrence.”
